Land in Joso City owned by Bio Rimotex is being exchanged at equal value for land in Naka City, changing the site. In Joso City the plan had switched from MgO to land-based aquaculture, but given the business case, five MgO units are now planned in Naka City.

How the project works and next steps

Current stage

Policy decided: equal-value land exchange and five MgO plants

    Why the site changed

    A magnesium oxide plant could not be planned in Joso City, so the plan switched to land-based aquaculture. After comparing the business cases, it was decided to produce magnesium oxide in Naka City.

    Equal-value land exchange

    Land in Joso City owned by Bio Rimotex will be exchanged at equal value for land in Naka City, moving the site of the five magnesium oxide plants to Naka City.

    Facilities and equipment

    We will study the five production units, the building, storage of raw materials and products, and power, water and drainage requirements.

  4. 04

    Leadership and operation

    The operating entity, technology terms, production and quality control system, and staffing will be set out going forward.

  5. 05

    Farming and biochar

    We plan to introduce moringa cultivation and a biochar system, and will study growing land, equipment and uses for the char.

  6. 06

    Carbon business

    We plan a carbon credit business. The applicable scheme and methodology, and measurement, record-keeping and certification requirements, will be confirmed going forward.

Current progress

A magnesium oxide plant could not be planned in Joso City, so the plan switched to land-based aquaculture. Later, judging magnesium oxide to be the more viable business, it was decided to exchange Bio Rimotex's land in Joso City for land in Naka City at equal value and make Naka City the site for five MgO plants.

Approach to revenue and costs

Based on MgO production capacity and sales terms, we will estimate equipment, raw material, energy and labor costs. Investment and income/expenditure have not been finalized.
