How the project works and next steps

Current stage

Preparing repairs and restart

  1. 01

    Purpose

Centered on restarting and running the power plant, we will promote use of local resources and a stable wood fuel supply.

  2. 02

    Facilities and equipment

We will check the condition of the existing equipment, the scope of repairs, power receiving and generating equipment, and fuel storage.

  3. 03

    Fuel supply

Procurement of logs and wood resources, chip production, storage and transport will be organized as one system.

  4. 04

    Leadership and operation

We will define the roles of the power plant and the fuel suppliers, the operation and maintenance system, and staffing.

  5. 05

    Farming and biochar

We plan to introduce moringa cultivation and a biochar system, and will set out growing land and uses for the char.

  6. 06

    Carbon business

We plan a carbon credit business and will confirm the applicable methodology, measurement and record-keeping, and certification requirements.

Current progress

Preparations are under way to repair equipment damaged in the earthquake and resume power sales. It has been reported that the prefecture confirmed the subsidy will continue. Repair quotes and acquisition terms are being worked out with a view to restarting.

Approach to revenue and costs

Revenue comes mainly from selling electricity; use of heat will be considered after checking equipment conditions and demand. Restart, fuel and maintenance costs will be set out.

Items to study and confirm

  • Equipment inspection
  • Restart costs
  • Fuel procurement contracts
  • Power sales terms
